Shew! 2013 was an amazing year. I was blessed with so many opportunities, and made memories to last a lifetime. Thought I should reflect on my favorite moments of 2013 one last time before kicking off the new year…. So in no particular order:

1) Alabama getting it’s 15 National Championship: when I picked Alabama people laughed out loud when I told them it was because I love football and they were the program I chose to watch. And they surely have not disappointed! My peers and I have been really lucky to see the “dynasty” that is Nick Saban. I know that I will be the student group that is talked about 50 years from now when they look back at the great Nick Saban, like they do with the “Bear” now.

2) The Ravens winning Super Bowl XLVII: I was able to go to New Orleans and cheer on my team. Along the way, I fell in love with a city, made new friends, and bonded with old ones. It is something I will never forget!

3) Memorial Day Weekend: I feel like it is rare for siblings to be as close as mine are, and I try to not take it for granted. This year for Memorial Day all my siblings and parents were at the farm for a perfect weekend. Having a couple of siblings to hang out with is great, but there is nothing better to have all five, and their significant others in a house for 4 days straight. We were also able to have the extended family over for a cookout. I couldn’t have asked for a better family vacation.

4) Delaware State Fair: in a ten day span I got to meet Luke Bryan, see Dierks Bentley, Florida Georgia Line, and spend time with family friends. Ava was quite the little showman this year, showing pigs, sheep, and goats.. It definitely kept us on our feet. In the 20 years of going to the fair, it’s pretty safe to say this may have been my favorite.

5) Pledging to myself to stay healthy: I’ve learned over the past two months that it’s okay to be selfish when it comes to your health, because no one else is going to do it for you. Multiple times in my life I say “oh I’m gonna do a diet, or exercise more” and every time it is a fail, and I gain it all back. But this time it isn’t just about losing weight to fit back into high school jeans.. It’s about creating a new me. Healthier, Happier, and all around better version of myself.

Therefore this year, my New Years resolution isn’t going to be the typical “lose weight”. I hope to enjoy exercise. To run and not secretly curse every step. Also to encourage friends to take this journey with me so we can make it a groups effort. And lastly, I want to stick to all the goals I have set: running a 5k in February, a 10k in May and a half marathon by 2015.

And finally, today is December 31st, which ends my 31 miles for 31 days. I am proud to say I completed 32 miles over the 31 day challenge. It wasn’t always easy, but I feel accomplished, and ready to push on to the next best thing!!

So long 2013!!!
